- Rinse the sabudana (sago) pearls thoroughly under running water. Soak the pearls in enough water for 3-4 hours or until they become soft and fluffy. Drain excess water completely. The soaked sabudana is now ready to be used for preparing various dishes like sabudana khichdi, vada, kheer, tikki, and other snack recipes. For khichdi: Heat oil or ghee in a pan, add cumin seeds, curry leaves, green chilies, and peanuts. Add the soaked sabudana and cook on low flame while stirring gently until the pearls turn translucent. Season with salt and garnish with coriander leaves.
