- Usage Instructions
- Soaking: Wash 1 cup of red lobia and soak it in water for 6 to 8 hours or overnight to soften the beans and improve digestibility., Boiling: Drain the soaking water. Pressure cook the soaked beans with 3 to 4 cups of fresh water, ½ teaspoon of salt, and a pinch of turmeric powder for 4 to 5 whistles on medium heat until soft., Make the Tempering (Tadka): Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds and whole spices (like cinnamon or cloves) until aromatic., Sauté Aromatics: Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown. Stir in 1 teaspoon of ginger-garlic paste and slit green chilies., Add Tomatoes and Spices: Add tomato puree or chopped tomatoes, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and turmeric. Cook until the oil separates from the masala., Simmer: Add the boiled red lobia along with its cooking water. Adjust consistency with extra water, cover, and simmer for 10 minutes, so the flavors blend., Garnish: Finish with garam masala and fresh coriander leaves. Serve hot with rice or chapati.
