- Soaking Rinse the rice thoroughly 2–3 times. Soak in water for 8–12 hours or overnight for best results. Cooking (Pressure Cooker Method) Use a 1:3 rice-to-water ratio (1 cup rice : 3 cups water). Pressure cook for 5–6 whistles on medium flame. Allow pressure to release naturally. Cooking (Open Pot Method) Use a 1:4 rice-to-water ratio. Simmer on low heat for 40–45 minutes until rice softens. Stir occasionally to avoid sticking. Serving Suggestions Use in kheer, sweet pongal, salads, or rice bowls. Add coconut milk, jaggery, and cardamom for a delicious dessert.
